GCap Media threatens Facebook ban

GCap Media has warned staff against using Facebook during working hours, after it emerged that the social networking website is the most-visited website across the entire group. In a company-wide email leaked to The Radio Magazine, the GCap Media technology department described the use of the popular website as “excessive”. Radio station bans Sean Kingston ’suicide’ song

   
Dublin radio station FM104 has banned the number one single from Sean Kingston after listeners complained about lyrics mentioning suicide. The Emap pop station has received a number of complaints about the song Beautiful Girls, which deals with unrequited love and includes the line: “You’ll have me suicidal when you say it’s over”. Galaxy breakfast team suspended

The entire breakfast team at Galaxy 105 in Yorkshire has been suspended after a listener complaint about a discussion on drunken stealing. Breakfast presenter Simon Hirst and co-hosts Danny and Jojo were taken off the air for a week after their show on Monday morning. Local presenters face axe as GCap unveils new network shows

More details have emerged of the GCap One Network overhaul. First of the major changes to The One Network will be the launch of two new network shows hosted by celebirty DJs Myleene Klass and Jeremy Kyle. Muxco bags two DAB licences

Muxco has beaten rival bidder Now Digital to win the local DAB multiplex licences for Herefordshire/Worcestershire and North-east Wales/West Cheshire. In Herefordshire/Worcestershire, MuxCo has teamed up with Murfin Media and Town and Country Broadcasting, and will launch an eight-station line-up, with three transmitters covering 80 per cent of the population by next September. BBC bans disposable cups

The BBC will ban polystyrene cups from the Media Centre and Broadcast Centre in White City, west London from next week. Today’s issue of BBC in-house magazine Ariel reports that disposable cups will be banished from the two buildings from 10 September – a victory for the magazine’s “Use Your Mug” campaign.
